Super Healthy Spices

Food doesn't have to taste terrible to be good for us. If you shop at your local farmers market you likely already know just how incredible fresh, local and seasonal ingredients can taste. Those ripe, juicy fruits and vibrant veggies are also chock full of nutritious benefits, too. And they're not the only delicious tasting foods that are good for you. Your spice cabinet may just offer healthy benefits beyond fantastic flavor.

Spices and herbs are often relegated to bit players when it comes to healthy eating, but many deserve more recognition for the nutrients they provide. While small in size they pack more antioxidants and other healthy substances than meets the eye

A touch of spice might be just what you need to minimize the damage of aging—and even offset the impact of diabetes. Research from the University of Georgia finds that antioxidant-rich herbs and spices can block the formation of harmful compounds that are associated with aging and may inhibit tissue damage caused by high levels of blood sugar.
